This is not a feature that currently exists in MapInfo Pro. It is quite a nice suggestion though.
Can I ask you to write it up as an improvement idea on the Precisely Ideas?
It could probably be done through a clever MapBasic application too

Does anyone know whether it is possible to make the thematic legend or table based legend to only show legend information for the map extend in the layout window, as opposed for the entire table?
Example, take a country wide map with lots of mineral occurrences let's say 100 types but when zoomed into a smaller area of interest the legend still shows 100 types, whilst on the map there are now only a few type of occurrences. One way of reducing the list is to manually remove the ones that you don't want by unticking in the legend (by first double clicking on the legend) but that is time consuming for multiple maps and layers like geology, structure, etc. Is there an option that does it automatically?
