New State of CT FIPS – Support Announcement

In June 2022, the State of Connecticut submitted a formal notice request to the United States Census Bureau to adopt the State's nine planning regions as county-equivalent geographic units for purposes of collecting, tabulating, and disseminating statistical data, replacing the eight counties which ceased to function as governmental and administrative entities in 1960.

The Precisely Address and Property Product Portfolio will update to the new Planning Region FIPS codes based on the following schedule.

    Please note the following:

    • The 15-digit GEOID field (US Census Block ID) in these products, where the first 5 digits represent the state and county FIPS, will continue to use the old CT County FIPs codes, in alignment with the US Census Bureau. The US Census Bureau does not intend to update the Block level GEOIDs until the next decennial Census in 2030.

    • The FIPS values for CT within the Precisely Products mentioned above will differ from the CT FIPS output from Precisely's Master Location Data (MLD) Geocoding solutions, until the MLD migrates to the new CT Planning Region FIPs.  Plans for this change are tentatively scheduled early 2024.
