Deprecation of EngageOne™ Content Author Reports feature
As there is no direct replacement for this component, this means that support for the EngageOne™ Content Author Reports feature is deprecated, with no new work or support fixes for this feature in all EngageOne™ Content Author releases.
Removal of EngageOne™ Content Author Reports feature and installation dependencies
The EngageOne™ Content Author Reports feature and installation dependencies ;
- Microsoft Report Viewer 2015 runtime
- Microsoft System CLR types for SQL Server 2014
.. will be removed in a future release.
Remediating Content Author Report viewer component 'Microsoft System CLR types for SQL Server 2014' out of support in current releases
The 'Microsoft Report Viewer 2015 runtime' component which is currently required for EngageOne™ Content Author Web Client to function, and installed by the EngageOne™ Content Author Admin installer has a direct dependency on
- Microsoft System CLR types for SQL Server 2014
.. which is accordingly also installed by the EngageOne™ Content Author Admin installer.
As Microsoft 'non subscription' extended support for 'Microsoft System CLR types for SQL Server 2014' component ended in July 2024,
.. this may be flagged as a security concern by some scans.
Note - Precisely does not support third party paid for 'subscription' support which extends beyond the end of vendor published lifecycle support dates.
To remediate this;
- For customers NOT using the EngageOne™ Content Author Reports feature, remove the 'Microsoft CLR for SQL Server 2014'component from the installed EngageOne™ Content Author Windows Server, after the Content Author Admin install and configuration has completed.
- For customers who ARE currently using the EngageOne™ Content Author Reports feature, remove the 'Microsoft CLR for SQL Server 2014'component from the installed EngageOne™ Content Author Windows Server, after the EngageOne™ Content Author Admin install, Microsoft Reporting Services, and EngageOne™ Content Author Reports configuration have completed.
The 'Microsoft System CLR types for SQL Server 2014' component can be safely uninstalled in both the above cases.
Do NOT uninstall the 'Microsoft Report Viewer 2015 runtime' component in current release versions as this will cause the EngageOne™ Content Author Web Client to fail.
A future EngageOne™ Content Author release will remove the relevant Report viewer dependencies, allowing this 'Microsoft Report Viewer 2015 runtime' component to be uninstalled.
