I'm trying to learn more about Geocoding and Geo Addressing and found this great article from a few years ago. For someone trying to understand some of the nuances between the two and this helped make it clear for me. I hope you find it helpful as well! Bearing in mind it's a few years old, are there any new points that should be considered in your opinion?

    Hi Matt

I like the article and remember reading it at the time. We tend to use Geocoding for any geographic object - not just addresses.

Addresses usually relate to postal addresses and the location is in respect to delivering post and packages. Not all buildings have a postal address (e.g. churches) and many addresses have more than one building relating to the postal address (hospitals, universities). More to work on....

Thanks for the helpful insight, John! I was always curious how things like apartment buildings/condominium residences were treated as well - any building which may have many sub-addresses within one singular geographic identifier. I suppose that's part of the art of great location intelligence
