Under rare circumstances, a Scheduled Export, Import, or Promotion may show a status of Processing in the corresponding Jobs repository without there being a work item in the corresponding EPX workflow doing the actual work for this job. When this occurs, the job will remain in the Processing state indefinitely which may interfere with other jobs from running in addition to that particular job not actually processing. Such a job is considered being orphaned since it is missing the work item.
By using a SQL Stored Procedure and EPX workflow, the Scheduled Jobs can be monitored to detect and report orphaned jobs within minutes of them occurring. If an orphaned job is detected, an single e-mail will be sent to the designated recipient(s), identifying the job type (Export, Import, or Promotion) and the job number. The person(s) receiving this e-mail can then take the necessary steps to investigate and resolve the orphaned job.
This session provides the necessary instructions for installing and configuring the Monitor Scheduled Jobs solution as well as how to resolve most orphaned jobs.
