For some Code Sets, Taxonomies, and Hierarchies, it is desirable to be able to monitor them for changes and take actions such as sending notification e-mails or launching workflows.  The Change Notification functionality operates on changes made to repository records.  It cannot operate directly on changes made to Code Sets, Taxonomies, or Hierarchies.  However, if the contents of the target Code Sets, Taxonomies, and Hierarchies are replicated in a repository, the Change Notification functionality CAN be used to perform any of the actions supported by Change Notification.  The replication is performed by an EPX workflow invoking a SQL Stored Procedure.  The Change Notification rules demonstrate the insertion of CN_Log entries, generation of e-mails, and launching of EPX work items when a Code Set or Taxonomy is updated.

This session describes how to replicate designated Code Sets, Taxonomies, and Hierarchies using a new repository, EPX workflow, and SQL stored procedure.  Examples of logging changes to the CN_Log repository, sending notification e-mails, and launching EPX workflows for those changes are also demonstrated.
