I have quite an extensive MapInfo database with dozens of saved workspaces, and I notice that I have just as many "customframes" folders.  Can these be deleted without impacting the workspaces?

    The short answer is no!

The longer one: The CustomFrames folders contains information needed by the add-ins that have added a custom frame to your layout.
This is typically the Layout Scalebar

Thanks Peter.  Mmm...Interesting...I'm wondering if there is a work-around – as the only add-on would be the Scalebar....I think there used to be an .mxb for a scale bar.  I guess I'm old-schooled and find these additional sub-folders a nuisance!  G

    Hi

You can also add a scalebar directly to the embedded map window inside your layout.
Make sure to activation your embedded map window (for example by double clicking on it), and then select Scalebar from the Add to Map dropdown on the Map tab.

The result can look like this depending on the settings you apply when creating the scalebar

Hello Peter!  I prefer the scale bar using the Layout but I find all the custom workspaces annoying!  When I did add it on the map window,  I found that you can easily move it so this is the route I will likely use in the future!  Your explanation is perfect!  Especially for anyone new to Mapinfo!  Thanks for your quick replies!  And thanks for thinking of me!  Happy Thanksgiving!  Giselle
