Changes to the forthcoming release of US Business Summary
This Support Announcement describes changes to the forthcoming release of US Business Summary.
Changes in This Release
A change will be implemented to the postal geography representation and aggregations, at the ZIP Code level, to align with recent updates made to the Precisely ZIP Code Boundaries and Centroids product releases.
A new "NoFill" version has been added to the Precisely ZIP Code data product. The "NoFill" version now excludes the filler ZIP Codes (having MX and MH suffixes) and was introduced to enable users to assign official ZIP Codes to contiguous areas of the United States. The previous MX- and MH-suffixed filler ZIP Code boundaries, occasionally found in between the regular ZIP code boundaries (often representing very remote areas such as mountain peaks), are now being absorbed by adjacent or enclosing ZIP codes to create a set of contiguous boundaries in this additional NoFIll ZIPCode geography dataset.
In turn, Business Summary datasets will be utilizing the new "NoFill" version of the Precisely ZIP Code Boundaries and Centroids product, for the ZIP Code rollups (i.e. ZIP-aggregated summary counts and other statistics) in 2025 and all future releases.
NOTE: This change to adopting the Precisely "NoFill" ZIP Code Boundaries and Centroids will not modify the data schema of the product files.
