Hi Nigel,
The ALG CR X in pos. 10 was added in MSP 2024.6. This was on those release notes:
Introduced a new option to include the HD/HDP Carrier with the Automation Presort for Marketing
Mail Letters (Pos 10 - 10):
• X - Optimize. Include HD and HDP in the Auto Presort
Note: Currently, the USPS is mandating that the HD/HDP qualification minimums be calculated by
the mail owner for this optional preparation. However, the MailStream Plus implementation at present
does not calculate these minimums by mail owner. Therefore, in order to utilize this option, the
presort must be specifically for a single mail owner.
In the last 2 Release notes we had this note:
Parameter changes for IBMi screens
Effective from the 2024.6 release, if you want to include modified or new parameters, add them by
editing the PRMMSjobid file in the assigned work library. Any modifications made to parameters
through the screen interface after editing PRMMSjobid will need to be re-included by editing the
PRMMSjobid file.
I will get this added back into the current release notes. Sorry for any confusion.
With this said, please edit your parameters editing the PRMMSjobid file in your work library.
If you have more specific questions, please open a case and we will be glad to help you.
Thanks,
Mary B

Subject: ALG CR parameter issue
Good day all. The MailStream Plus v2026.6 guide state that for the ALG CR Optimization Indicator to use an "X" or "N" but on the IBMi screen the options are "Q" an "N". It seems that neither the "Q" nor "X" works though. Only the "N". This being the case, what are the option for doing walk sequence mailings?
From: the guide:

From the "green screen" IBMi
MAILSTREAM PLUS
Should MailStream Plus attempt optimization (applies to
Standard Mail Letters only)?:
Q Optimize. Handles the anomaly where the Basic Enhanced
carrier rate is more expensive than some of the
automation letter rates. This option moves mail to the
Automation portion of the presort if the resulting
presort level rate is less expensive than Basic CRRT
under the current USPS rates. If a job contains both
for-profit and non-profit mailpieces, the presort is
optimized as a for-profit mailing.
N No, do NOT optimize for the current rate.
blank Default is N .
