With MapInfo Pro v2021, you can now make a WMS Layer not selectable and in this way control where GetFeatureInfo should be requested for the layer or not.

Subject: WMS usability improvements
Suggestions from a Swedish user via our partner Metria.
- Suppress info from WMS-layers where no feature is found
- Determine whether to get info as text or html
1. Use case is a map with several WMS layers. The user selects the info tool and clicks the map at a location where a few of the layers have features. The info tool witll then display information for all WMS layers, saying there is no information avaialble for all the layers that have no feature in this localtion.
Usability will be improved if the user has a setting to suppress information from layers that do not have any feature in the selected location.
2. The formatting of information is somewhat challenging, specifically when local character sets are being used (in Swedish, the characters å ä ö). Some servers can return information (GetFeatureInfo) as either text or html, which of these work best differs from case to case.
Usability will be improved if the user can select the preferred format of the returned info for each WMS layer, in the cases where the server is able to return either text or html.
