Our 7 favourite keyboard shortcuts in MapInfo Pro

Everyone loves a good keyboard shortcut – they can increase your efficiency and save you valuable time. I’ve surveyed our MapInfo Pro users here at Critchlow, and have compiled our 7 favourite keyboard shortcuts in MapInfo Pro.

Browse Table – This is hands-down our favourite and most used shortcut. F4 is the 64-bit equivalent of our beloved F2 in 32-bit.

New Map Window – An incredibly useful shortcut – once you’ve pushed F3 then just Ctrl + Click on all the tables you want to add to your map window.

Save a Table – it seems obvious, but this one’s a firm favourite of ours and deserves a mention.

Find – Our data team particularly enjoy this shortcut, for quickly zooming to the right town, road etc (our New Zealand Search Road table in NationalMap (www.nationalmap.co.nz) was specifically designed for this purpose)

Find Selection in all Windows – First select your record in either a browser or map window, then use Ctrl + Shift + F and *like magic* your selection will be zoomed to in all open browsers and map windows from the table in question.

Find Selection only in Selected Map – for those times when you want to find your selection in only one map window. First select your record in the browser window, next select the map window with the record that you want to zoom to, then use Ctrl + G.

Unselect All – now you know how to select and find objects, naturally you’re going to want to know how to unselect – this shortcut gets the job done.

Yes, I have to say that F4 is hands down my favourite shortcut. Thanks for sharing the other discussion Amita, some good ones there.
