Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a way to allow certain user groups to see the contents inside a Profile, but should not be able to edit anything inside it.

For example,

Say there exists a Profile with name ABC

Users in the group should be able to Open Manage Model (ABC) > See all the attibutes & its properties > See all Rules inside the profile and rules assigned to attributes. But the user cannot make any change to the rules or attributes inside ABC profile.

Right now if we grant edit access on Profile it allows the user to make changes, and Read/View access completely blocks the users from going inside profile ABC and see what is really inside.

Please suggest if there is any way to achieve this.

One option would be to start with the Compare Extract script for Core objects and take the queries that extract Profile data (for comparison) and place that SQL (altering it as necessary) into a Scheduled Export so that users can run that export and get the details at any time.  You could set such an export to extract all profiles or to extract only a designated profile.  :For the latter, it would be best to set up a separate Scheduled Export for each profile so users don't have to modify a Scheduled Export job to identify the profile before launching the job, which would limit the export to one profile at a time and open the opportunity for two users to be trying to alter the export at the same time.  The ability to view full details of profiles that are read-only has been submitted as an enhancement request on the Precisely Ideas web site.  If you are not the author (I was given a list to review) and have not voted for it, you may want to do so.
