    One of the biggest misconceptions

Many people associate Syncsort MFX exclusively with sorting.

In reality, MFX supports much more than that.

    Beyond sorting

    • Data transformation
    • Record selection
    • File joins
    • Report generation
    • Data validation
    • Aggregation
    • File splitting

Many workloads that traditionally required custom programs can be simplified using built-in MFX functionality.

    Discussion

What's the most creative use of MFX you've seen outside traditional sorting?

In my opinion, the most underrated feature of MFX is OUTFIL. Many mainframe engineers know MFX as a sorter, but OUTFIL turns it into a reporting, splitting, transformation, and distribution engine.

Great point, Akhil. OUTFIL is definitely one of the most powerful and often overlooked features in MFX. It enables report formatting, data reorganization, file splitting, and record transformation without requiring custom application programs. In many cases, a well-designed OUTFIL statement can replace multiple post-processing steps and significantly simplify batch workflows. Thank you for highlighting a feature that demonstrates how MFX extends far beyond traditional sorting.

I'll admit, I always thought of MFX primarily as a sort product πŸ˜„.
It's interesting to see how many data-processing use cases it can handle beyond traditional sorting.
    Nice one, RhythmπŸ’―
