MapInfo Pro allows you to quickly zoom to the extent of a single layer or the entire map.

This is typically done by right-clicking on the layer or the map in the Layer List and from here you click on the View Entire Layer control.

You can also use the View Entire Layer control from the Map window context menu or the Navigate group on the Map tab.
This will bring up the Zoom Entire Layer dialog, allowing you to either select All Layers or a single layer from the View Entire Layer list.
On Precisely Ideas, I noticed a few requests for improving the View Entire functionality:
I decided to include a few of these ideas in the latest version of the WindowHelper tool:
    • When choosing "all layers" do not include Bing layers or it zooms to the whole world. Only consider "normal" layers.

    • What would be awesome for me to use would be the ability to select certain layers that you want to "View Entire Layer" of. That way if I have two different tables and want to see the entire areas of both but not the entire area of the other layers in my workspace I could.

These improvements have only been implemented via the Layer List. When accessing View Entire Layer from the other places, you get the old behavior.

Would it be an idea to also change the View Entire Layer dialog to support these changes?

    Happy #MapInfoMonday!

    Improvement to View All Layers

From the Map context menu in the Layer List, you can access the improved behavior from the WindowHelper tool.

When you use this option, you can control which layer types should be included when calculating the extent of the entire map.
You configure this via the Options dialog in WindowHelper.
Under the View Entire Map group, you can initially decide to use the Standard View Entire Map or the Custom View Entire Map.
If you select the Custom View Entire Map option, you can check the layer types to include. Typically, you may want to exclude the WMS Layers and Tile Server Layers as these may span wider than the extent of your other layers. Sometimes the Tile Server Layers span the World.
You can also control if layers that have been made not visible in the map, influence the extent of the map.
These settings will be stored and used when you run the WindowHelper tool.

    Improvement to View Entire Layers

With the WindowHelper running, you can select one, two, or more layers from the Layer List, and then from the context menu use the View Entire Layer(s) control to zoom to the combined extent of the selected layers.

This is a very subtle change but with a wide impact.

    Thanks Peter

I also like to use the View Entire Layer list control for viewing the extent of your Queries or Selections, which will appear in your list once they are present.

    Cheers

Oh, yeah, zooming to the extent of your selection is very useful.

For the current selection, you can use the Zoom to Extent of Selected Objects control from the Zoom To dropdown menu.
