    Happy #MapInfoMonday!

During our MapInfo Round Table event in Paris last week, a question was raised about preventing MapInfo Pro from redrawing the map.

Especially when making changes to the settings of many layers, it sometimes does make sense to stop the map from rendering until you have made your changes.

The person asking the question remembered seeing this option but couldn't find it.

It is still there in MapInfo Pro. You can find the Redraw control in the Map Tools dropdown on the Map tab.

If it's something you often use, I would recommend right-clicking on the control and using Add to Quick Access Toolbar to make it easily accessible from the QAT, the Quick Access Toolbar. You can do this for all controls in MapInfo Pro to give yourself quick access to tools you use often.
You can now quickly access the tool in the QAT at the top of the MapInfo Pro window.
The user of Redraw is quite simple. When you click the control to turn off the map redraws, the map will go grey with a text at the top: Map redraws are suspended.
When you have made all your changes, you click on the Redraw control again and the map will start being redrawn.
The Map Redraw setting is a setting for the individual map. This means you can turn off the redraw for just one map but have the other maps continue to redraw.
