In December 2022, Precisely announced the discontinuation of support for the Enterprise Geocoding Module (EGM) within the Spectrum technology platform, effective December 31, 2024. As this deadline approaches, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of customer care as you transition from EGM to GGM or one of our other industry-leading geocoding solutions. Please contact your account team for more details and guidance as we continue to communicate with affected customers in the coming weeks. Here are some more details:
What did we build:
For many years, Spectrum followed a legacy approach in our geocoding strategy, keeping the U.S. geocoder and international geocoders separate. This separation originated from the distinct acquisition histories of these technologies, leading to a lack of full alignment. These stages were known as the Enterprise Geocoding Module U.S. (EGM-US) and Enterprise Geocoding Module Non-U.S. (EGM-NonUS).
As our geocoding business expanded, we increasingly collaborated with global companies who found the distinction between U.S. and non-U.S. geocoding cumbersome. Recognizing the need for a more cohesive solution, we decided to develop a unified system that would replace the legacy setup and streamline geocoding activities for all enterprises. This initiative led to the creation of the Spectrum Global Geocoding Module (GGM).
Now, the time has come to transition all clients from the legacy Enterprise Geocoding Module to the Global Geocoding Module, which we introduced over five years ago. This move is aimed at enhancing efficiency, simplifying operations, and providing a more seamless geocoding experience for our global clients.

Summary:
The Spectrum Global Geocoding Module (GGM) builds on the capabilities of the Enterprise Geocoding Module (EGM) by unifying the geocoding services into a single API, offering comprehensive global coverage, and enhancing user experience through simplified processes and advanced features like address autocomplete and key lookup services. This evolution results in a more efficient, reliable, and user-friendly geocoding solution for both U.S. and international applications.
