It was finally resolved by the user setting their network to use TCP/IPv4, not the IPv6 that the network (StarLink) was using by default.
I don't know enough about networks and protocols to know if this relates to TLS 1.2....

We have seen several issues this year, especially with older versions of MapInfo Pro, where users run into problems using the Bing Services.
This relates to Microsoft switching from the older TLS 1.0 to the newer and more secure TLS 1.2.
We have been able to fix these problems but you will have to contact our support team for the fix.

Does anyone know if this Bing Tile Server error message is normally only when the latest Bing patch hasn't been installed? Or is for another reason?
A client as happily running Bing until a few weeks ago, and is now getting this message
Despite running the bing patch it's not working.
Client is using MapInfo-Discover but this seems more like a MapInfo issue.
