Changes in This Release
Data set changes in the 2024 annual update and other notable changes are listed below:
- GroundView: Population by Race, Dataset #2 – Asian Alone by Selected Groups subset of variables has been modified from 18 groups to 37 groups for 2020 Base Year, 2024 Current Year Estimates, and 2024 Current Year GeoEnrichment data sets.
Asian Alone by Selected Groups continues with 18 variables within the Census 2010 Year (XY), however the variables have been expanded to 37 variables for the 2020 Base Year (BY) and Current Year (CY) datasets (demographic and geoenrichment files), in alignment with the latest 5-year period estimates from the American Community Survey (ACS). The tables impacted by this change are: gv_usa_race2_by, gv_usa_race2_cy, and ge_gv_usa_race2_cy. The expanded Population by Race Dataset #2 files now include these Asian Alone Selected Groups for BY and CY:

- GroundView: Housing, Dataset #2 – Year Householder Moved Into Unit data and Tenure by Year Householder Moved Into Unit subsets of variables have been modified in the 2020 Base Year, 2024 Current Year Estimates, and 2024 Current Year GeoEnrichment data sets.
3 of 6 variables referring to Year Householder Moved into Unit and 6 of 12 variables referring to Tenure by Year Householder Moved into Unit have been modified, for the 2020 Base Year (BY) and Current Year (CY) datasets (demographic and geoenrichment files), to align with changes in the year ranges used in the latest 5-year period estimates from the ACS. Note that the new upper categories (Moved in 2021 or later) in the BY dataset will contain zeroes. The tables impacted by this change are: gv_usa_housing2_by, gv_usa_housing2_cy and ge_gv_usa_housing2_cy. The modified Housing Dataset #2 files now include the following fields for BY and CY – the bolded rows indicate the changed fields:

- GroundView: Socio-economic – Workers by Means of Transportation to Work subset of variables has been modified in the 2020 Base Year, 2024 Current Year Estimates, 2024 Update Profile, and 2024 Current Year GeoEnrichment data sets.
3 of 12 variables referring to Means of Transportation to Work have been modified, for the 2020 Base Year and Current Year datasets (demographic and geoenrichment files), to align with changes in the latest 5-year period estimates from the ACS. The tables impacted by this change are: gv_usa_socio_economic_by, gv_usa_ socio_economic _cy,
gv_usa_updateprofile, ge_gv_usa_ socio_economic _cy, and ge_gv_usa_updateprofile. The modified Socio-Economic Dataset files and Update Profile files now include the following fields for Base Year and Current Year – the bolded rows indicate the changed fields:

- Consumer Spend Potential (CSP) variables for CY have been updated with the categories and data which align to the 2021 and 2022 Consumer Expenditure Surveys from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The 2024 CSP variable names have not been changed and they continue to be packaged into four CSP subsets.
- The structure of the data schema workbook was updated. Changes include reordering of columns and the addition of several new columns.
