Hi
It works as you described for me.
When I select the demographic areas they appear as a selection in the Table List but when I use Set Target the Selection disappears again.
I then select my area of interest and that appears as a Selection in the Table List.
When I click on Erase Outside, the unnamed Selection is changed into a named query
And when the Erase Otuside has finished, the result is in the Selection.
When you browse the Selection or add it as a layer to the map, it will be given a "fixed" name.

Hello Peter,
Thanks for your quick answer and support.
Only 2 queries/3 contain the right information, it is simply generating unnecessary data and I have to check which one is the right query.
Best Regards,
Joachim

Does the last query hold the data you are expecting?
Let me try with an example

Subject: Area proportion query
Hello Peter,
In fact, I'm making a cross of two types of polygon layers in order to calculate a proportion area for the population via a "set target" and then selecting a column for which I do need that proportion (erase outside target).
In the past, it was then returning me a query and selection. I was then exporting selection via a CSV file. Since today, it is not returning a selection anymore, but three queries ... See below:
In this case, Query 13-14&15...
Looking like weird for me. This is with the 2019 and 2023 versions.
Could you help?
The content of the files is also different. I did compare with a query I made in the past, the result is the same hopefully.
Thank you,
Best Regards,
Joachim

Hi Joachim
Are you running a SQL query? Can you share the Select statement or an image of the dialog?
What version of MapInfo Pro are you using?
I'm not sure I understand how running a query results in 3 queries. That's what I'm trying to understand
Thanks
Peter

Subject: Area proportion query
Hi,
When making an area proportion for a specific attribute (example - Population), Mapinfo was returning a query (selection) or queryX. Since today, it is returning systematically returning 3 queries and no more selection.
Tried with different files, same result. Issue is that it is not more returning the content of the two layer (files) queried.
Could someone help?
Thank you,
Best Regards,
Joachim
