    Hi all,

I have been editing the expression syntax on Legend Labels in a Layout to enable me to have more than one attribute on the Legend compared to the Layout map itself. However, even though the expression syntax is correct, when I click to Finish, the expression label I have just changed does not come up on the Legend box? Only the original table label comes up? Therefore how do I get around this issue?

    Thanks

    Richard

    Hi Richard

Can you share a few images of what you are trying to do and how the result looks like?

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Ok.

I am trying to get the labels on the Layout as showing 1 attribute and in the Layout window Legend, showing that attribute + another attribute, Pls see below:

In the layout window, I have selected the legend expression here:

Verify - Syntax correct - then what I am wanting, is the numbers from the Layout map on the polygons to be included in the Legend, as well as the other attribute of the SSSI name. So for instance it would be 1 SSSI Name... however, after editing the Syntax, the result is that the Label just has the one original table name:

Therefore, how do I amend that?

    Thanks

    Hi Richard

Maybe I'm missing the point but have you tried creating a thematic layer using the Legend Expression?
That should result in what you are after.

For a standard legend expression, I doubt it has been designed to read values from more than one column. Or maybe I just never have used it in anger.

    Hi Peter,

I see thanks but no I just want the Layout Legend Label to show the two columns of the table. I have seen it is possible to do this, but when I try even with correct Syntax, it won't let me so I don't know how to resolve it.

    Hi Richard
So you just need the legend to state some text that describes the objects?
You just double-click on the legend and you gain access to edit the text.
