  • 1.  VF03 Billing Document Output to PDF and Save

    Posted 03-23-2022 13:39
I have a request to create a Winshuttle script to input a billing document, output to a PDF and save the file locally.  I have tried Standard, Batch, and GUI scripting.  I feel like I am close with GUI scripting, but can not select the file download Save or the save as Save.  Is this possible using Winshuttle?  I am attaching the process and script.

    Thanks!

    Hi Deirdre

When it comes to interacting with files, whether a download or upload, it can get tricky.  Parts of what you see might actually be Windows screens that look like the SAP GUI, which we don't capture, even with GUI scripting.

I know for some download options, it works, like the ones that have as inputs a path and file name.  But if you choose an option like Word or PDF, the windows-like pop-up occurs, and we cannot capture that screen.

I can't trigger your exact scenario in my system, but I'm going to guess that once you have the PDF view, it's actually a PDF viewer inside of SAP, which it's possible we are not capturing.

    Your best bet is to:
    • try to find a way to walk through the steps without a "third party" window
    • have SAP configured to automatically send the pdf so you don't have to download it
    • if neither of the above is possible, you might want to leverage and RPA tool for that part of your process.

    Best Regards,
    Sigrid
