    Today (11th January 2021) Ordnance Survey launched the Public Sector Plan (link), providing public sector organisations direct access to their most detailed and trusted location data via their suite of easy to use APIs.

    One of these APIs - OS Maps API - provides up-to-date and accurate raster base maps containing the detailed OS MasterMap Topography Layer (updated six-weekly), 1:25 000 Scale Colour Raster (updated quarterly) and more. Zoom levels are already configured, making base map configuration in Confirm much easier.

    Public sector Confirm users can now take advantage of this new API.

    Please refer to the attached document for further background and instructions on how to set it up for use with Confirm, Confirm Web, ConfirmConnect and ConfirmWorkzone.

    If you try out the new API, it would be great to hear your experiences on this thread.

    Hi Steve

    I have setup our OnDemand desktop environment with the Maps API and it appears to work well. Time will tell what it is like for users in terms of speed but zoom layering looks good and works well. If it works well it will save us having to update OS data on OD environment.

    As for Connect, I think we will still have to retain the sqlite databases as network coverage can be patchy in Lincs. It still gives us a good alternative to the Bing maps though.

    Hi Phil,

    Another functional benefit of using this over Bing in Confirm Host mapping (in particular for NSG Maintenance) is that it will not alter your Map Workspace Coordinate System to Bing's Pseudo-Mercator projection, but instead use British National Grid.

    Confirm will adopt the coordinate system based on the first visible Tile Server layer, if one is present in the Map Workspace for example.

    Hi Steve,

    I have set up on Desktop and all working well.
    Also tried to set up on ConfirmConnect following the instructions. JSON loaded into Web Map layer settings and preview reveals OS map. However it is not appearing in ConfirmConnect app even after relogging in. Any ideas please?

    Hi Tessa,

    Glad to hear you have it set up successfully in Confirm desktop and its working well.

    For ConfirmConnect, if the device you are testing it on has a Settings.js file present containing your previous base map configuration, this will override any base map settings stored in the Web Map Layer Settings form.

    If you can track down and remove that file from the device, or remove and re-install ConfirmConnect (which should also remove the Settings.js file), that will hopefully solve your problem.

    There is a page in the Confirm help file called 'Getting Files onto Devices' that describes how and where the Settings.js file is stored (ConfirmConnect > Administration Guide > Setting up Mapping Data > Getting Files onto Device) - you may need to switch off the automatic download over wifi feature in your test environment, if you currently use this feature.
