Street Manager Retries

    Hi All,

    In the majority of cases when we get an error sending a notice to Street Manager we will untick the send flag so that the error can be corrected and the item re-sent.

    The exceptions to this are generally issues to do with authentication, such as invalid passwords or URLs or not having credentials at all for a particular organisation.  We initially thought it would be a good idea to keep retrying in these scenarios so that when the credentials were corrected the notices would automatically re-send, rather than users having to manually re-send each one.

    However, not that things are settled down it seems that these errors can often occur when users accidentally do something on an old works that isn't configured properly.  In this case the constant retrying can be annoying and difficult to resolve.

    Would there be any objections to us changing the behaviour so that we no longer retry in the cases where credentials aren't valid?  If we were to do this the only scenarios where we would automatically retry is if Street Manager reported an internal server error or we couldn't reach the service due to a timeout.

    Hi John,

    I would be happy with Confirm stopping its attempts after a set number of tries. Especially if the sending button was unticked allowing you to make fixes to that Permit.

    Hi John - another one I missed.

    Yes I'd support stopping sending.  This would apply to the problem I reported where Inspection Sampling somehow picked-up some ancient pre-Permit Notices which, understandably, got rejected by SM
