Today we will look at how you can use the Clip Limits to hide grid cells within a certain interval of values in your raster grid.
This can be useful if you are looking for areas with certain values or if you want to get a closer look at the changes in values in a smaller area without clipping out that area into a new raster grid file.
The Clip Limits option is available in the Color panel.
The Advanced Color Panel
You can access the Color panel from a number of places in MapInfo Pro. You can find it on the Style tab for at selected layer and on the Raster tab. Below you can see where to find it on the Raster tab. Click on Advanced Color to open the panel.
When you activate it, the Color panel will typically appear docked on the right side. Before changing any of the settings in the panel, make sure that the correct raster file is selected at the top of the panel.
Transparent Clip Limits
To use transparent clip limits, you first need to check the two options: Apply Clip Limits and Transparent Clip Limits.
Once you have activated this, you can set the clip limits in the Histogram below in two ways.
You can drag the purple vertical lines into the Histogram and in this way set the lower and upper clip limits that you want to apply to the raster grid.
Alternatively, you can specify the exact limits using the fields Min. Limit and Max. Limit under the Histogram.
As you change the clip limits, the map will get updated to reflect these and only show the grid cells that are within the specified interval.
One thing to note is that this of course also works as you zoom into the map. Another important thing is that the colors in the Color Table will get spread through this smaller value interval. This can make it possible to see smaller changes in the values.
