Check regkeys for the correct path:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Safe Software Inc.\FME Objects\OEM\Applications\MapInfo Pro 17.0 x64
make sure you can find the Universal Translator key for installed tools under here:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\1700\Tools64
go into the \UT subfolder and find the file MapInfoVer.txt
Open in notepad and make sure it has these contents:
MapInfo.Applicationx64.1700
USE_NATIVE_LOADING = TRUE

a client has issues running the UT in V17. The mbx loads OK and the app is available through the Table ribbon and on the Tools list. However when the user tries actually running it - nothing happens. The FME box fails to appear.
- on the same PC the 32 bit V15 UT works fine
- we tried 3 other PCs in the same organisation - V17 UT works fine on all of them. IT insist they all have same antivirus/firewall/etc.
- user has elevated permissions. also logging on to same PC as a different user doesn't work either.
- clicking the fmequicktranslator.exe under program files also does nothing
- whole of Pro has been re-installed too
There doesn't appear to be any other app using FME or Safe Software. I'm stumped on what else to try - any ideas?
